Sci-Fi Knights (Destiny inspired designs)

I've been playing Destiny lately and was inspired to create my own Sci-Fi Knights.  Here are some steps in my design process.  Black and white stage is complete (still need to design the weapons they'll be holding)... on to color phase.

1.  Continue refining roughs.  Choose 2 to take to finish.

2.  Take 2 mech designs and complete 3 design iterations.

3.  Mash-up combinations of the three to find the best design and refine.

WEEK 1

Assignment:

1. Gather 5 images for functional reference of 3 types of mechanical joints/ pivots.
    Complete 10 studies.

- hinge joint

- rotation joint

- ball joint

2. Gather 10 images for aesthetic reference.  Complete 10 studies.

3. Complete 20 silhouette thumbnails.

4. Choose 10 silhouettes and render out the graphic breaks. (ran out of time during this portion of the assignment)

Lighten the skin tone and increase contrast between value groups.  Continue to render the forms.
